Call →Front 9 = 1 point. Back 9 = 1 point. Overall Match = 1 point. Maximum available: 3 points.
Each 18-hole Singles match is worth 3 points. A tied match awards 1.5 points to each team.
A tied hole is halved. There are no carryovers to the next hole.
Double par is the maximum score on any hole to help maintain pace of play.
Lift, clean and place is permitted in the fairway. It is not permitted in the rough, bunkers, or native areas.
A ball entering a penalty area receives a one-stroke penalty. Take relief under the applicable tournament/local rule and use a designated drop zone when provided.
If every player agrees that a ball should be in play but cannot be found because of leaves, a free drop is permitted. The player may tie the hole but may not win the hole. Opposing-team approval is required. This rule does not apply to fescue or other areas where the ball is reasonably lost.
Free relief is available when the ball is within two club lengths of a sprinkler head, the sprinkler head is within two club lengths of the green, and it interferes with the player's line to the hole. Relief must not be closer to the hole.
Caddies may read putts, provide course guidance, and assist with strategy.
Practice shots are not permitted. Players may putt on the previous green after the hole is complete, provided pace of play is maintained.
Distance-only GPS/rangefinder functionality is permitted. Wind-adjusted devices, apps, or functionality are not permitted.
Declare the mulligan before leaving the tee. Once declared, the mulligan becomes the ball in play and the original shot is void.
Each player receives one shotgun mulligan per nine holes.
Each player receives two shotgun mulligans per nine holes.
Each player receives one shotgun mulligan per nine holes.
After selecting the team's shot, both players may place the ball within one club length of the selected position, no closer to the hole. The ball must remain in the same condition: fairway to fairway, rough to rough, and bunker to bunker.
The Calcutta begins with a live player auction Thursday night. Player order is determined by random drawing. Opening bids start at $100, with subsequent bids increasing by at least $20. Golfers may bid on themselves or any other golfer.
The winning buyer owns the auctioned golfer. Each golfer has the right to purchase 25% ownership in themselves based on the winning purchase price and must notify the buyer before the start of Round 1. Buying partnerships are permitted, and buyers may sell or transfer equity after the auction. Partnerships should generally be limited to 3–4 people to encourage broad auction participation. Partnership splits and internal accounting are the responsibility of the buyers.
Golfers accumulate Calcutta points across all three tournament rounds according to the Calcutta Points Breakdown. Round 1 uses individual net Best Ball performance. Round 2 uses net Scramble team performance, with partners splitting the applicable Calcutta points. Round 3 uses individual net Singles performance. Gross triple bogey is the maximum score used for Calcutta scoring.
The Calcutta uses a Hybrid Handicap calculated as the average of a golfer's Current Handicap and Low Handicap, rounded to one decimal place. The Hybrid Handicap is the approved Tournament Handicap used for tournament scoring, Sandbagger of the Year rankings, or other tournament net-performance metrics.
Continue entering gross scores in Golf Genius for all 18 holes, even if a match has already been decided, so complete Calcutta performance can be calculated. Calcutta purchases and payouts will be settled on a net basis after completion of The Bagger. Partnership splits and distributions are handled by the participating buyers.
